~ Quick 2–3 paragraphs about potential app idea (you can just publish a project in Behance for that and then send me the link by email to kr2176@nyu.edu) and interests based on the four options for class projects:
- App as civic engagement tool.
- Speculative app a design/art project to address potential future societal needs.
- Critical app design as design/art project that critiques existing social and cultural systems. Post to your blog and share blog.
- Your choice

Regarding software design, I want to design a software for diaries and anniversaries. In our daily lives, we may need to record our daily lives in the form of text, voice or photos. We may have a lot of things whichwe don’t want others to know but want to express our emotions. I think this software is another way to decompress and express our emotions. In addition, I also consider an option to insert an anniversary or a reminder of the anniversary. Everyone has important anniversaries in their lives. Sometimes, we may forget them because of our busy lives, or forget them for personal reasons. Anniversaries can also appear in a way of calculating dates. For example, you can record how many days have passed since you were born, and how long you are before your next birthday. . . In short, I hope this software can help people ease their emotions, and don’t forget the appointments and anniversaries with family members.

~ Read How to think differently about doing good as a creative person and write a short (or long if you wish) response (if you alrady had me in a class that had this assignment in the past feel free to post the same one :))

After reading the “How to think differently about doing good as a creative person” by Omayeli Arenyeka. This article introduced how can we aviod CSC. There are many people in this society who think they are doing good things, such as donating money or helping others, but in fact, they may be for their own titled or their own benefit. Also, sometimes there have many web designers impose their wishes on others, because of some private interests. In addition to these, there are many designers who will serve the people with the purpose of businesses and earning more money. For example, on many shopping pages, there are also many web pages that will design some benefits or discount coupons to allow consumers to spend more which can bring more benefits to businesses. Moreover, there are even more businesses that advertise falsely, for example, they will list some functions of products which they do not have in order to deceive consumers. At last, this article also tells readers, no matter what occupation you are in, I think when designing projects, you should consider if you are standing from your personal point of view or for the public needs. You need to know the purpose of what you do and who you serve.

In addition to these, I agreed with the last paragraph and the question we need to think about.”…back to the question: does what you made do what it says it does? If yes, that’s great. If no, that’s also okay. But you should be willing to step back and let go if need be”. This paragraph tells us that before you doing anything for the general public, such as donating money, advertising, or even making products. We must proceed from the perspective of both sides, not to deceive and promote customers’ consumption. I know that most people in this world are based on self-interest, but before doing these things, we also need to face the objects we serve with a sincere heart. Regarding the issue of donations, I have also seen false donations in some news. For example, there are some successful people who do it for their own reputation, and some businesses collect money from the public in the name of benefits and donations. Overall, I think we need to seriously think about whether what we are doing is meaningful or deceiving others.
